What's to lose?! - Life is there for the taking and we want to help you enjoy it. The event runs biannually, so if it's not quite right for you now. We'll be running another one in 6 months.
Due to the high volume of applications we receive it may take a little while to hear back but do not worry we promise to be in touch as soon as possible :)
The focus of our events is on high quality, relevant, one to one conversations between companies and attendees. To help with this, we use an application process so that:
Companies post jobs on our website and tell us what roles they're looking for. We match those roles to the profiles of people applying for a ticket, specifically taking into account your skills, experience and seniority. Where there is a good match, we offer a ticket. If we don't offer a ticket, it just means we don't have enough suitable relevant roles at that level (it's definitely nothing personal!)
All our match making is done "blind" based on the information you provide us when you sign up. We don't take any personal details into consideration such as name, gender, photo, background etc. The links provided (LinkedIn, Github etc) are only used to validate your application and check that the details you provided are correct (and to not let any recruitment agencies sneak in).
Unfortunately we're a ticketed event, so you must have a ticket to attend. It's also worth considering that:
If you're feeling nervous or anxious about attending, that's perfectly natural.
You can find more information on how to prepare here
Don't worry, that's perfectly understandable!
99% of people come to Silicon Milkroundabout by themselves. Feeling nervous and anxious before the event is perfectly natural. It usually only takes one conversation for all those fears to be alleviated and for you to realise that basically everyone wants the same thing - to connect on a one to one level.
To help make the experience much easier and get over any first time nerves, we suggest:
Remember, we are rooting for you! You need to be a little brave but you'll be more than rewarded for it and if you need anything at all, just grab one of the Silicon Milkroundabout team at the event, we're more than happy to help with anything you might need :)
As part of the application process, we carefully match you to the roles companies are looking for. This keeps the conversations relevant to the day. Broadly speaking, if your area of expertise is product, marketing or design, you'll be issued a Saturday ticket and if you are in software engineering, dev ops or data science, you'll be issued a Sunday ticket.
We appreciate that not every company attends on both days but we do carefully consider the most relevant day for you and issue a ticket accordingly. Unfortunately we can't allow you to come on an alternative day.
If you think we have made a mistake please email us at [email protected]
No problem at all. Simply log into your account and click the RSVP button to let us know you can no longer make the event.
Remember, if you do change your mind your ticket remains valid and you can still come !
Ahh, the dreaded C word!
We will follow all Government guidelines on Covid 19. At the moment with all restrictions lifted in England, we are expecting to run an event in exactly the same manner as we have previously. However we will closely monitor any changes to Government policy and act accordingly. This could potentially include proof of Covid vaccine, timed entry, controlled flow through the venue, optional mask wearing. We will keep you updated with any changes.
The NEXT GEN event covers the same roles as our main Silicon Milkroundabout event:
Like Silicon Milkroundabout, the focus of NEXT GEN is meaningful one to one conversations. However rather than just being about hiring, the NEXT GEN event is also about companies providing helpful information about the next stages of your career including, available job roles, advice, graduate schemes, internships, courses and mentorship.
It'll be in the same venue as our Silicon Milkroundabout event at The Truman Brewery in East London. There'll be a live DJ, free bar, ball pit + lots and lots of conversations.
As the venue has a maximum capacity and to allow us to issue as many tickets as possible we will be running two separate sessions of the event. The first will be from 2:00pm - 4:30pm and the second will be from 5:00pm - 7:30pm.
This is our 2nd edition of the event (so go easy on us) but we're hoping to turn this into a similar scale event to Silicon Milkroundabout, providing the next generation with a wider array of help across a variety of jobs roles within tech.
Your ticket is only valid for the NEXT GEN event on Friday 12 May. Due to capacity at the venue we are only able to issue one ticket per person for either the NEXT GEN event on 12 May or Silicon Milkroundabout on the 13 and 24 May. If you have received a ticket to the NEXT GEN event it is because that is the event we think you will get the most out of based on the information you provided on your profile.
You can filter how the companies can help you (including those who are hiring now and who are interested in hiring in the future) using the drop down menu at the top of the NEXT GEN page.
We issue tickets to the day we feel you would get the most out of based on the information provided in your profile.
The NEXT GEN event is for those just starting out in their career, typically with under 1 years experience. Silicon Milkroundabout is for more experienced tech professionals with the Saturday focusing on Product, Marketing and Design and Sunday focusing on Engineering and Data Science.
Due to the capacity at the venue we are only able to issue one ticket per person to either NEXT GEN or Silicon MIlkroundabout - if you think we have made a mistake then please do let us know by emailing [email protected] and we can review your application.
If you're feeling nervous or anxious about attending, that's perfectly natural. We're a friendly bunch and want to help as much as possible. We're on hand to answer any questions or give advice as best we can either before or while you're at the event.
